Biography
Dr. Jorge C. Busse, has been in private practice since 1988 in the Miami area. He is Medical Director at BMA West Dade Dialysis Centers in Miami. He currently resides in Miami, Florida and is a partner in Nephrology Associates of South Miami, a private nephrology group. Dr. Busse is affiliated with various other dialysis centers and hospitals in Dade County, Florida. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology, and is a Fellow of the American College of Physician. He held the position of Chief of Medicine and Chief of Staff at various Miami Hospitals. He is the South Florida representative member of the Medical Advisory Board for Fresenius Medical Care. Dr. Busse has held appointments as a voluntary Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Miami School of Medicine in the past and currently with the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.
Education
He received a Bachelor’s and Masters degree from the University of Florida, and his MD degree from the Universidad Central del Este in the Dominican Republic in 1980. His postgraduate training in Internal Medicine and Nephrology were completed at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center where he was additionally elected Chief Medical Resident.
Achievements
Dr. Busse has presented and published on the subjects of hypertension, nephrology, outcome measurement and managed care. He has special interest in treatment of chronic kidney disease and delay in its progression and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology, and was at one point also Board Certified in Critical Care Medicine. He is also Board Certified by the Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization review Physicians. He holds membership in a variety of professional associations including the Renal Physicians Association and the National Kidney Foundation.
